Most recently known for shredding his own artwork at the auction block in 2018, BANKSY continues to ridicule the art world itself while provoking audiences to rethink every topic from police power to climate change to children’s rights. From the street, BANKSY has effectively heralded a new era in art appreciation that shifts perspectives and values assigned to the academy to the artists sans formal education. His inclusion in this collection is very much in stride with the contemporary pop movement which takes the notion of ‘art for art’s sake’ to a new level.
